Bonita Springs
Located in Lee County, between Naples and Estero, Bonita Springs has a population of about 57,000. Bonita Springs features unspoiled beaches, numerous golf courses, restaurants, beautiful parks, and scenic rivers, all of which provide opportunities for outdoor recreation on and off the water. Originally named Survey in the 1870s by surveyors who camped near a medicinal spring thought to have healing powers by the natives, it was later renamed, Bonita Springs. The original name can still be seen today in the Survey Café.
Bonita Springs features untouched scenic beaches like those at Barefoot Beach, Lover’s Key State Park, and the much-beloved Dog Park Beach. On nearby Hickory Island, Bonita Beach has unique beachfront homes alongside older beach cottages. Set out to fish with a guide or jet ski or paddle a kayak around Estero Bay to see dolphins and manatees. Inland, the Imperial River winds its way to the Gulf, offering peaceful paddling and moss-draped oaks. A funky downtown includes historic buildings, artist galleries, and Riverview Park, frequently hosting outdoor concerts, juried art festivals, and food trucks. Bonita Springs restaurants include everything from Doc’s Beach House, a casual restaurant right on the beach sand where they say, “no shirt, no shoes, no problem!” to Italian pizzerias, seafood, and fine dining. The historic Everglades Wonder Gardens takes visitors back to a simpler time and offers up-close encounters with birds and reptiles. The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa delights visitors of all ages with waterslides, water adventures, and deep relaxation. The resort is popular with locals for family “staycations” and luxurious spa treatments.
From shimmering modern condos to extraordinary estate homes, real estate in Bonita Springs has a wide range of available homes. Residents may prefer to be in golf communities, elegant beach-front homes, or more affordable homes in the inland areas. The large, planned community of Bonita Bay features a private full-service marina on the Imperial River, 56 different neighborhoods, and five golf courses, with real estate ranging from single-family custom homes, villas, or waterfront high-rise condos.
